BVRA Annual General Meeting

When and Where is the AGM this year?
Venue for our meeting on Wednesday 22 April is the Gulf Harbour Yacht Club.
Meeting starts at 7pm. Bar service will be available.
If you are free and can help, please arrive early as we will need to arrange furniture from about 6:40pm.

Attendance
To attend the AGM
A member must be a financial member — meaning all levies and fees must be paid by their due date. Members who are in arrears of more than three calendar months lose their entitlement to participate in any Society vote, though the Constitution does not explicitly bar them from attending as observers.

To be heard
Only financial members may speak at General Meetings. A member may participate in person or by signed original written proxy in favour of another person entitled to be present.

To vote
The same financial membership requirement applies. Each member is entitled to one vote per Lot. Where more than one person owns a Lot, only one owner may exercise that vote — and if they cannot agree, the person appearing first on the certificate of title prevails. Voting may be by voices, show of hands, or secret ballot if demanded by the chairperson or two or more members present.

Quorum
No business can be transacted unless at least 50 percent of eligible financial members are present throughout the meeting.

What is the AGM for?
  • Elect a committee to manage the society for the ensuing financial year
  • Provide members with information about the past year
  • Give updates on the society's current financial status and to advise about changes to annual levies
  • Table and seek approval of the 2025/6 FY financial statements
  • Outline any plans for the upcoming year
  • Seek direction from members regarding issues of concern to the outgoing committee
  • Address other business as previously advised to and included in the agenda by the Secretary
